Washington, DC– Democratic candidate for Florida House District 47 Anna V. Eskamani has earned the endorsement of the national organization #VoteProChoice.

#VoteProChoice has a clear theory of change to mobilize the nation’s pro-reproductive health majority by engaging voters, candidates, and partners on issues of healthcare, reproductive rights, and abortion access. In 2016 and 2017, the organization built a nationwide online ballot guide partnering with Planned Parenthood, NARAL, Lady Parts Justice, MoveOn, Our Revolution, DFA, and Progress Now to help voters from across the country identify local candidates who support full access to reproductive care.

“Anna understands the critical role access to healthcare plays in every family—losing her mother to cancer when she was only 13. Through this tragedy, Anna became a tireless advocate for healthcare for all and will defend and protect reproductive rights for everyone in Florida” said Alaina Reaves, Organizing & Engagement Coordinator of #VoteProChoice. “It’s a profound honor to endorse reproductive health champion Anna Eskamani.”

Anna had the following to add in response: “We have one of the most anti-reproductive health President’s in a generation, with a Congress and state legislature that pounces at Planned Parenthood and attacks women’s rights every chance they get. These politicians are out of touch and pushing a politically motivated agenda, one that leaves women and families behind. Nothing will change unless we elect more people like me in Tallahassee, and I thank #VoteProChoice for serving as a national platform that advocates for full access to reproductive health.”

Right now in the Florida legislature, there are four bills designed to restrict access to safe and legal abortion. That includes legislation that has already passed the Florida House and legislative that is prepped to pass the Florida Senate. The Constitution Review Commission (CRC) is also aggressively pushing forward an effort to reduce Floridians right to privacy, a clear attempt to restrict access to safe and legal abortion.
